Photo Taken by John Morzen Photography "Earlier this month, a close friend of mine was preparing for a move across the continent. Even though she had spent most of her life in our area, before she left, I made it a goal to show her a number of interesting places around the Mid-Hudson Valley that she had probably never seen before. In the process, I ended up discovering a few hidden gems, myself.
The day before she left, we ended up spending quite a bit of time by the River. It was a gorgeous, warm day, and while standing at the edge of the water, and unsure of the next time she'd get to see it - we decided to take off our shoes, walk in, stand in the seriously cold water (57 degrees, at the time) and just appreciate it for what it was. It's our River - and there's really something to it. I didn't have my camera on me at the time, but it was a remarkable moment. A little later on that day, we'd go to another spot on the water, out of the way, in Poughkeepsie, where I got the above shot - at her suggestion. I think it came out really well." |
