I decided to head toward Cold Spring, but on the way there, noticed these brilliant beams of light breaking through the dark clouds across the river, about half an hour before sunset. I pulled over near Breakneck Ridge, headed to the eastern shore of the river and spent some time appreciating the view, and captured this shot."

When we arrived at the boardwalk, the late afternoon light created beautiful colors and long shadows. It is such a serene place. I hope this photo captures the peace and beauty of this special place."

As you can see, there are very few apples still hanging on to the tree. This photo has inspired me a lot because, through the cold weather and storms, the apples still hang on. This photo was taken February 6, 2015, at an apple farm on River Road, in Port Ewen, New York, with a Nikon D7100."

The abyss of darkness, the memory of solitude, bone shattering freezing temperatures and the occasional friendly cop, who shows up and asks me why I endure it all. This photograph is one of the reasons why. Taken at Sylvan Lake Beach Park on December 19, 2014. This composition is a 43 image stacked composite. The star trails depicted here show the rotation of the earth during a two hour period above the Lake. I have ambitions of becoming a professional at capturing the Milky Way Galaxy looming above The Hudson Valley in the coming months. Needless to say, I was eager to try it out. I had taken up hiking in 2009 and was aware of the view of the Esopus Lighthouse that Scenic Hudson's Esopus Meadows Preserve had to offer. And so, on January 3, 2011, I had one of my first opportunities to try out my new toy. I was hoping to make it back this Winter, now that I have a tripod and have learned so much more about photography, but I read that the Esopus Meadows Preserve is closed for a few months for maintenance."

Having heard about this beautiful place, I was stunned as I made my way down the road to the parking area. What truly caught my eye was Hunter's Mill, built by Dard Hunter. As the sun rose above the treeline, I managed to capture this image of Hunter's Mill. It remains one of my favorite captures, and I love sharing it." [From Wikipedia: Dard Hunter, a paper-maker associated with the Arts and Crafts movement, bought the Mill House in 1909 and built a small paper mill on the property in the shape of a Devonshire cottage, complete with thatched roof, where he taught students the arts of pre-industrial paper-making, printing and publishing for the next seven years.]

I was always looking out over the river to see if I might have something to photograph. Even when there is not much to photograph, I enjoy going down under the bridge, just to relax and take in the scenery. On this particular day in February 2014, I did not see much going on, I had taken pictures of the bridge 100 times, so decided to leave. As I was getting back into my car I heard a noise and looked up at the Walkway. It seemed the workers were snow blowing from a big storm we had just had. I was amazed at the scene the snow was making as in cascaded down over the bridge and into the water. This picture was featured on Hudson Valley Facebook page, and continues to be my favorite and many of my Facebook friends and fans on my site https://www.facebook.com/owlridgestudios."

I grew up going here, and for a while, I don't think I appreciated it, as much as I should've. But, it's just so beautiful, the views are breathtaking, and it's free to visit the grounds - I couldn't help but be drawn back to it, and rightfully so. On this particular August day in 2014, I went there specifically to take photos, which I don't often go out to do, and I wasn't disappointed. There was what seemed to be an inordinately long sunset that evening, and when twilight arrived - the setting just transformed. That's what you see here. I was honored by all the incredibly positive feedback I got from this photo, including the Town of Hyde Park using it on their official Facebook page."

This area isn't just one of my favorite places in the Hudson Valley, it's one of my favorite places in the world. This was just a gorgeous day that I ended up being drawn outside, went out driving, and brought my camera. I ended up in a moment, and found myself in an incomprehensibly beautiful setting. If you haven't been here before, I highly recommend checking it out. It's free!"

I went with two close friends, whom were experiencing it for the first time. We were at a seating later on in the evening, and the lighting on the Island after dinner turned out to be phenomenal. I took this shot of the Castle, as we explored the Island at sunset."
