You've likely seen the Island as a passenger on the Metro-North train. This Independence Day, you have the chance to picnic there. The Bannerman Castle Trust will be hosting a fundraiser feast out on historic and mysterious Bannerman Island on the Hudson River, located between Beacon and Cold Spring, New York. A wide selection of food on the Island will be catered by Loughran's Irish Pub of Salisbury Mills, for visitors to enjoy in one of the most picturesque settings in the Hudson Valley. Proceeds from the picnic will go to helping the ongoing preservation and maintenance efforts on Bannerman Island. Their boat, the Estuary Steward, will be departing from the Beacon, New York riverfront at noon. Regular guided walking tours of the Island take place every weekend from April through October, departing from Beacon and Newburgh, New York. Other special events are also held throughout the season.
