Bannerman Castle in Autumn by John Morzen

The Bannerman Castle Trust will be welcoming visitors to the Island this Halloween weekend, for their last tours of the 2015 season. Historic Bannerman Island (officially named Pollepel Island) is located on the Hudson River, approximately 50 miles north of New York City, situated in the Hudson Highlands, between Beacon and Cold Spring, and is widely known for the ruins of a castle-like structure on its northern side.

This year, the Bannerman Castle Trust, the official non-profit group that helps maintain the Island and ferries visitors there, will be hosting a special Halloween costume contest during their guided walking tours on Saturday, departing from Beacon (on the riverfront, adjacent to the Metro-North train station) at 11am and 12:30pm. Any tour attendees that come in costume will receive a free goodie bag. The winners of the best costume, as judged by the Bannerman Castle Trust's Facebook community, will receive prizes including a pair of tickets for a tour next season, the Bannerman Castle book, and a Bannerman Castle t-shirt. To join their online event for this contest, click here.

On Sunday, their final day of the touring season, they will have tours departing from Newburgh at 11am and Beacon at 12:30pm and 3pm. Their 3pm tour out of Beacon will be sure to include a special surprise.

Tickets for all guided walking tours are $35 for adults, $30 for children and are tax-deductible.

For reservations, visit their Zerve page.
