Which, isn't too far off from reality, as far as being a highly-appealing place for filming a movie that's set in exotic locations. In the past several years, the third Transformers film featured a scene shot on Bannerman Island, just north of here, in the same exact Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve. Far more importantly, though, this park in Cold Spring was a favorite of national treasure and local legend, Pete Seeger. He frequently visited and helped Little Stony Point out on many occasions, and was certainly a big contributor not only of the beauty that can be appreciated in this particular free park, today, but the whole Hudson Valley, in general. I took this photo while visiting the beach along the river, there, early in the evening on June 6th, 2014."

It was like the last hurrah of Summer and the beautiful blue color really struck me. Most of the garden was beginning to die, but these flowers were still magnificent. You can see the fall foliage and a bit of the Hudson River in the background. I hadn't been to Olana in many years, but I had never forgotten how beautiful it was. This really enforced this for me, now I can't wait to return in Spring/Summer!"

It's the view looking northward, toward the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, and Catskill Mountains, on May 18th, 2014. To view more of my photos, please visit: http://www.facebook.com/horizonlifephotos"

I walked along the Farm Road and was amazed by the "money" view of the mountains, easily seen by just walking down the road from the parking lot! What an amazing view, it feels like you can see forever into the distance." For more information about the Mohonk Preserve and how you can visit, click here.

As winter progresses and the weather gets colder this falls freezes over. As you can see here, this is before the freeze. I love going here, one, for the natural beauty and, two, if going at the right time, it is very peaceful. By : https://www.facebook.com/owlridgestudios.

The clear blue autumn sky is reflected nicely on the tranquil lake." For more information about Lake Awosting, visit Minnewaska State Park Preserve's Official Site.

Having heard about this gem but never visiting, I decided to change that on this particular October day. It was overcast, and the days showers had pretty much ended when I pulled into the parking lot. I was stunned how, as the clouds thinned, the Autumn colors became brighter and more intense. I made my way towards the dam, firing off a few photos as I walked. When I reached the dam, there wasn't a lot of water flowing over the top. I decided that I could get a decent photo from up on the bank along-side the dam when I realized that in my excitement to get going, I left my tripod back in my truck. As I composed the photo, I braced myself as best as I could against a tree and took a few long exposure shots, not knowing how well they would come out, if at all. To my surprise, I ended up with what you see here."

I brought my camera this day (January 30th, 2015) and was struck by the stark image of this fallen tree encased in the frozen shore of the Hudson River. This photo was taken from the shoreline trail at Scenic Hudson's Long Dock Park in Beacon, looking south down the River."

I decided to head toward Cold Spring, but on the way there, noticed these brilliant beams of light breaking through the dark clouds across the river, about half an hour before sunset. I pulled over near Breakneck Ridge, headed to the eastern shore of the river and spent some time appreciating the view, and captured this shot."

When we arrived at the boardwalk, the late afternoon light created beautiful colors and long shadows. It is such a serene place. I hope this photo captures the peace and beauty of this special place."
