Even though she had spent most of her life in our area, before she left, I made it a goal to show her a number of interesting places around the Mid-Hudson Valley that she had probably never seen before. In the process, I ended up discovering a few hidden gems, myself.
The day before she left, we ended up spending quite a bit of time by the River. It was a gorgeous, warm day, and while standing at the edge of the water, and unsure of the next time she'd get to see it - we decided to take off our shoes, walk in, stand in the seriously cold water (57 degrees, at the time) and just appreciate it for what it was. It's our River - and there's really something to it. I didn't have my camera on me at the time, but it was a remarkable moment. A little later on that day, we'd go to another spot on the water, out of the way, in Poughkeepsie, where I got the above shot - at her suggestion. I think it came out really well." Unfortunately, my busy schedule only allowed me to use it once, on the last day no less. And so, I chose to visit Split Rock via the Shongum Trail at the West Trapps trailhead. I had never visited Split Rock before. But, the photos I had seen of this location always expressed beauty and serenity. And Split Rock definitely lived up to those expectations. It's definitely worth the visit."

It truly is a lovely view of the mountain, I especially like the path cut through the field for the Preserve. I did not have time to go exploring today, but I will certainly be back!"

I had seen a lot of photos of them, driven past them countless times, and probably stopped a few - several years ago, but, had never been there with a camera. I was thrilled to see how they look at night, and was able to get the shot I've been wanting to for a while.
I really like how the water, lighting and even the background lights came out in this. The City of Beacon, and everything the community as a whole, is doing there, seems to get nicer, every time I visit. I highly recommend checking it out." In the back of my mind the seed was planted to come back before the farmer tilled over this area, and I got my chance last night. After my ride, I returned to my truck to grab my camera, and rode back in to capture the scene." To view more of his photos, visit: Frank Guarnuccio Photography.

I had planned a trip to Millerton with a friend today, and it was such a beautiful day we decided to continue on to Bash Bish Falls. I was astounded by the volume of water going over the falls, and the beauty of it. Since it is still early spring, there was not much foliage, which made the viewing even clearer. This is a place I plan to return to in different seasons."

It's such a pleasure to watch this gem in our own back yard come alive each Spring. Coming down Arden Valley Road, it's hard to miss this 20' high seasonal waterfall as you navigate the twists and turns.
I hope you enjoy this photograph as much as I enjoyed bringing it to you. Frank Guarnuccio Photography" Photo Taken by John Morzen Photography
"I took this shot the evening of August 5th, 2013, over Kerhonkson, New York. If you look carefully beyond the light cloud cover, you can faintly see the Galactic Plane of the Milky Way Galaxy extending diagonally across the upper right part of the photo.
This photo was taken the night after I realized it was possible to get really decent shots of the stars with the camera I was using. That night, all I wanted to do was get solid photos of the night sky - to do that, I only wanted two things... to be far away from light sources, and be closer to the stars. So, on somewhat of a whim, I decided to set out at night with the specific goal of night photography - which I don't think I had ever done before, let alone drive an hour each way to do so. I had told my Dad what I was planning and he questioned whether it was a good idea to drive far away at night just to take pictures (especially providing it's only a hobby of mine), but I legitimized it in my mind that many of the photographers I admire travel hundreds, if not thousands of miles away for their photography. As for the location of where this was taken, I don't know how much time I spent in that specific area - time sort of stopped - it was maybe 2 hours or more, in almost total darkness, but this was one of the scenes I captured. When I took it, I was actually bummed to see the clouds impeding the view of the stars (not to mention the trees being slightly lit up by an oncoming cars headlights in the distance), but now I think they give the picture a lot more character." As I began to talk with him, I found out he is walking all though-out America, and has walked through 48 states. Through his "Love Life Walk", he has over 6,000 followers on Facebook. He was kind enough to pose for me with his trademark sign 'LOVE LIFE'. Photo courtesy of: Owl Ridge Studios."

Other people had the same idea-just basking in the late day sun and warmth. I captured this image, and it gives me hope that winter is almost over and soon we will see the earth spring to life again."
