For half a century, our friends at the local non-profit group Riverkeeper have been working relentlessly to improve and protect the environmental, recreational and commercial integrity of the Hudson River, and drinking water for millions of people in the Hudson Valley and New York City. They serve as the public’s investigator, scientist, lawyer, lobbyist and public relations agent for the Hudson River.
On May 18th 2016, they'll be celebrating their 50th anniversary at the Fishermen's Ball, held on the River at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers. This year, they'll be honoring Leonardo DiCaprio and Ralph Lauren for their extensive and ongoing work in their conservation and environmental efforts. In addition to honoring Mr. DiCaprio and Mr. Lauren, the event will include the premiere of a Tribeca Film Fellows® short film with introduction by Robert De Niro, a special performance by Sting, cocktail hour, dinner and more. Depending on the tier of ticket purchased, 80%-99.8% of the cost is tax-deductible, with proceeds going toward Riverkeeper's important work in our region to improve and protect our invaluable sources of water, and their related ecosystems. |
